An incredible array of sauropods once walked on Earth, some on every continent. From the flat-faced African Nigersaurus to the bizarre South American Amargasaurus with spikes protruding from its spine, paleontologists are only now beginning to understand the true range in size, shape, and behavior of these remarkable animals. Using spectacular fossils from AMNH collections—including the skull and neck of a baby Barosaurus and a Camarasaurus femur, the largest complete limb bone in the world—along with cast skeletons and the latest scientific illustrations and reconstructions, Giant Dinosaurs will highlight the stunning diversity of this fascinating group of dinosaurs.

Science has been the intellectual bedrock of the Museum since the institution was founded in 1869. The Museum is the professional home to a scientific staff of more than 200, including a core group of more than 40 curators. Each year, Museum scientists embark on over 100 expeditions to places as far off as the Gobi Desert in Mongolia and the forests of Madagascar, to research an array of projects and to continue building our renowned natural history collections, an accumulation of more than 30 million specimens and cultural artifacts. Join a panel of Museum scientists for a discussion on current Museum expeditions and toast the summer season with cocktails on the beautiful Arthur Ross Terrace.
Panel discussion and cocktail reception. Junior Council Members free. Guests of the Junior Council pay $100 at the door or $80 in advance. Invitation to follow.
